Oral antibiotics
Antibiotics given by mouth. In the OVIVA trial they proved non-inferior to intravenous antibiotics in bone and joint infection (treatment failure 13.2% versus 14.6%), and in POET the switch to outpatient oral antibiotics was non-inferior in stabilised left-sided endocarditis.
